Summer is supposed to feel easier. No school schedules, more flexibility, longer days.

One of the most grounding mindset shifts is separating what’s in your control from what isn’t.
Your ex’s behavior, tone, or last-minute changes? Often out of your control. Your responses, boundaries, and communication? Fully within it.
Summer tends to surface this quickly—plans change, expectations differ, and emotions can run higher with more time together.
Before reacting, pause and ask: Is this something I can control or influence—or is this something I need to let go of? That small shift alone can prevent a lot of unnecessary escalation.
