Your Wellness Plan: The Ground-Yourself Mind-Body Plan
- Get Informed & Ready

Divorce can make you feel run down and emotionally drained. It can cause tension to consolidate in your body and lead to digestive issues. The truth is, even in amicable situations, divorce takes a toll — physiologically, mentally, and emotionally.
And it’s for these reasons (and others) that establishing a mind-body plan is critical.
Now, you may already have a solid protocol in place — activities and habits and rituals that keep you grounded and support your overall health and well-being. But if you don’t, we’ve developed a flexible plan that you can start implementing today.
By focusing on common-sense principles and minor daily tweaks, you can stay centered in the face of tough conversations and even tougher circumstances.
Morning
Focus: Center your energy and start the day energized.
Mindfulness
Start with some mindful breathing. It doesn’t have to be long. Studies have shown that just five minutes of breathwork can improve mood and reduce anxiety.
If you’re familiar with box breathing, you can do a few rounds of that. Otherwise, in this video, I’ll guide you in a short, tension-melting rhythmic breathing exercise.
Bodywork
Engage in some gentle movement. For example, do a few sun salutations, or go for a walk in nature. If decision fatigue is already getting you down, take a peek at these short videos in which I take you through a sequence of simple, equipment-free stretches and balancing exercises.
As you progress through your morning, be sure to take regular breaks to move your body and, if you spend a lot of time at your computer, your eyes, too.
Nutrition
- Drink a tall glass of water with lemon when you get up.
- For breakfast, focus on high-protein, low-carb combinations, like eggs with avocado or a smoothie.
- For a mid-morning snack, choose whole foods such as nuts or berries. Try to be present as you snack, pausing periodically and keeping your attention on the experience.
